Catholic churches of Bideford and Torrington

Photographs of the Lundy Island visit, 26th May 2016

On the 26th May 2016; the first Catholic Mass in living memory, was held in St Helen's Church on Lundy Island, just off the North Coast of Devon. Over 200 people embarked on the MS Oldenburg, just under 70 of whom were from the parishes of Barnstaple, Bideford and Torrington for the 2-hour cruise to the Island. An excellent day was had by all, with a calm crossing and glorious weather. A very big 'thank you' to the Knights of St Columba for organising the day.

The 'Order of Mass' can be read here.

A perfect day and location to hold Mass

The 'Old Light' now disused. It proved too high for Mariners to see above the fog

Other passengers enjoyed a guided walk of the Island
